Coding for Everyone? My Personal Journey and Lessons Learned

Are you ready to discover the world of endless possibilities that coding has to offer? My experience working as a freelancer, in a service-based MNC, a product-based startup, and a product-based MNC tells me in no uncertain terms that coding is crucial, but it isn't for everyone, and definitely not for 6th graders. Don't waste your child's precious time on coding when they can learn it later. Trust me, they'll thank you for it.

Coding is like solving a puzzle. You use a specific set of instructions, called code, to tell a computer what to do. And the coolest part is, you can use code to create almost anything you can imagine! From designing video games to building websites, the possibilities are endless.

But coding isn't just about creating cool projects. It's also a valuable skill that can help you in many different areas of your life. It can help you develop problem-solving skills, logic and creativity, and even prepare you for a career in the tech industry.

It's important to note that there is a myth that creating an app automatically means you will become rich. The reality is that creating a successful app takes a lot of hard work, dedication and a bit of luck. It's important to have realistic expectations and understand that success in the tech industry is not guaranteed.

It is important to keep in mind that children have different learning styles and abilities, and not all children may enjoy or benefit from learning to code. Additionally, it is important to make sure that the content and materials used for coding education are age-appropriate and engaging for children. Teaching coding to children as young as 6th class is not recommended since they may not be ready.

In 11th and 12th grade, I took computer science as a subject, but I never learned how to code because my teacher didn't teach me correctly. As a result of going to college, I became very proficient in coding. This just goes to show that even if you have trouble learning to code at first, don't give up! There are many resources and ways to learn, and with the right approach and guidance, anyone can learn how to code.

In conclusion, I want to emphasize that coding is a valuable skill, but it is not for everyone. It is important to have realistic expectations and not push children into coding before they are ready. Encourage children to have a diverse set of hobbies and interests and they will find their way to coding if they are interested in it. Remember, with the right approach and guidance, anyone can learn how to code. However, it's not a must for everyone, so don't waste your time and effort on something that may not be right for you or your child.
